Age Calculator

Find your exact age in years, months and days, the total days you have lived, the weekday you were born and your next birthday.

About the Age Calculator

The Age Calculator works out your exact age in years, months and days on any date, today by default, or a cut-off date for an exam, job or admission form. It also shows your age in total months, weeks, days and hours, the weekday you were born on and how long it is until your next birthday.

What you can do with the Age Calculator

How exact age is counted

Age is counted the way birthdays work: first the number of complete years, then complete months since your last birthday, then the remaining days. If the "as on" date is earlier in the month than your birth date, the month count drops by one and the days are borrowed from the previous month.

Age "as on" a cut-off date

Recruitment and exam notices often say "age as on 1 August" rather than today. Set the "Age as on" date to that cut-off and the calculator shows your age on that exact day, so you can check the age limit before you apply.

Born on 29 February?

In years without a 29 February, the next birthday is counted on 1 March. Legally, different countries treat leap-day birthdays differently for things like reaching adulthood, so check local rules if it matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate age on a specific date?

Change the "Age as on" date to the date you need. Your exact age on that day appears instantly.

Why does my age in days look so large?

A year is about 365 days, so a 30-year-old has lived roughly 11,000 days. It's the exact count between your birth date and the "as on" date, including leap days.

Is my date of birth stored anywhere?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is saved or sent.

How do I calculate age as on a cut-off date for a government exam?

Enter your date of birth, then set "Age as on" to the cut-off date in the official notification. UPSC Civil Services, for example, uses 1 August of the exam year. Compare the years, months and days shown with the minimum and maximum age limits.

How is age in years, months and days counted?

The tool counts full years first, then full calendar months, then the remaining days, the same way people count birthdays. Born 1 January 2000, you are 26 years, 9 months and 0 days old on 1 October 2026.

What if I was born on 29 February?

In years without 29 February, the tool counts your birthday as 1 March. So someone born on 29 February 2004 shows as 22 years, 11 months and 30 days on 28 February 2027 and turns 23 on 1 March. Rules for official forms can differ, so check the notification.

How many days until my next birthday?

The Next birthday card shows the number of days left, the full date with its weekday, and the age you will turn. If the "Age as on" date is your birthday, it shows a happy birthday message instead.

How can I find which day of the week I was born on?

Enter your date of birth and the line under your exact age shows the weekday, such as "Born on a Saturday" for 1 January 2000. It works for any past date, so you can check the weekday of a parent's or grandparent's birth date too.

Does the age in hours include my time of birth?

No. Total hours is total days multiplied by 24, counted from midnight on your date of birth to midnight on the "Age as on" date. Your real age in hours could be up to 23 hours different depending on the time you were born.

Can I calculate the age of someone who is no longer alive?

Yes. Set the date of birth and change "Age as on" to the date of death, and the tool shows their age at that date. The same approach works for the age of a building, company or vehicle from its start date.

What does "Check dates" mean?

It appears when the "Age as on" date is earlier than the date of birth, which usually means a year was typed wrongly. Fix either date and the age appears again. The date of birth box does not allow dates after today.
