Discount Calculator

Work out a sale price.

About the Discount Calculator

The Discount Calculator shows what you'll actually pay when an item is on sale. Tap a common discount or set any percentage, add an extra coupon or bank offer on top, and a receipt shows each saving and the final price.

What you can do with the Discount Calculator

Stacked discounts don't add up

"20% off, plus an extra 10% off" is not 30% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, so the total saving is 28%. On ₹1,000 you pay ₹720, not ₹700. Pick the extra discount under "Extra discount on top" and the receipt shows the real total.

Reading sale offers

"Buy one, get one free" is a 50% discount on each item only if you actually wanted two. "Up to 70% off" usually means only a few items are discounted that much. Comparing the final price, rather than the headline percentage, is the reliable way to judge a deal.

Check the price per unit too

A discounted large pack can still cost more per gram than a smaller pack at full price. The Unit Price Comparator helps with that.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate a discount?

Multiply the price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get the saving, then subtract it from the price. 25% off ₹800 saves ₹200, so you pay ₹600.

How do I combine a sale price with a coupon?

Set the sale discount, then choose the coupon or bank offer under "Extra discount on top". The calculator applies it to the reduced price and shows the true total saving.

Is tax charged before or after the discount?

Usually on the discounted price. Apply the discount here, then use the GST calculator on the result.

How do I find the original price from the sale price?

Divide the sale price by (1 - discount / 100). If an item is 1,499 after 25% off, the original price was 1,499 / 0.75 = about 1,998.67. This tool works forwards from the original price, so you can check your answer by entering it.

How do I convert a flat rupee discount into a percentage?

Divide the rupees off by the original price and multiply by 100. A flat 500 off on 2,999 is 500 / 2,999 x 100 = about 16.67%. Enter that in the "Or set any discount" box to see the final price and receipt.

Does the order of stacked discounts matter?

No. Two percentage discounts multiply, so 30% then 10% gives the same final price as 10% then 30%: 2,999 becomes 1,889.37 either way. The order only matters when one of the offers is a flat amount or has a maximum cap.

How do bank card offers work with a sale price?

A bank offer usually applies to the price after the sale discount, which is how the "Extra discount on top" chips work. Real bank offers often have a maximum discount and a minimum order value, so check the terms; this tool does not apply caps.

Is "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" the same as 50% off?

Only if you wanted both items and they cost the same. Paying for one of two equal items is a 50% discount per item. If the free item is cheaper, the real discount is lower: free item price divided by the total of both prices.

Can a shop in India sell above the MRP?

No. The MRP printed on packaged goods is the maximum retail price, inclusive of all taxes, and selling above it is not allowed. Discounts are taken from the MRP or the listed price, so enter that as the original price.

What is the highest discount I can enter?

The quick chips go up to 70% off, and the "Or set any discount" slider goes up to 95%. The extra discount on top can be None, 5%, 10%, 15% or 20%, and the receipt lists each saving separately with the final price.

How do I work out how much I saved in total?

The line under "You pay" shows the total saving in rupees and as a percentage of the original price. For 2,999 at 30% off plus 10% more, you save 1,109.63, which is 37.0% in total. The Copy button copies the full receipt.
