Countdown Timer
A countdown timer for hours, minutes and seconds with quick presets, pause and resume, plus a sound and vibration alert when time is up.
About the Countdown Timer
The Countdown Timer counts down from any time you set, tap a quick time from 1 minute to an hour, or type hours, minutes and seconds. A ring shows how much time is left, it tells you the exact time it will end, you can add a minute on the fly, and it sounds an alarm when time is up.
What you can do with the Countdown Timer
- Quick times: Tap 1 minute to an hour, or type any time.
- Label your timer: Tea, Maggi, Laundry: see it in the tab.
- Keeps running: Survives refresh or closing the tab.
- Alarm until stopped: Sound and vibration, with a Stop button.
- Full screen: A big ring you can see across the room.
- Screen stays on: No dimming while it runs.
Accurate even in the background
Phones slow down timers in tabs that aren't visible, so timers that simply count ticks drift behind. This one calculates the remaining time from the real clock every time it updates, so it stays accurate if you switch apps and come back.
Making sure you hear the alert
The alert plays through your device's sound, so check that your phone isn't on silent. Vibration works on most Android phones; iPhones don't allow websites to vibrate. You can switch the sound off if you only want to watch the ring.
Everyday uses
Cooking and baking, workout intervals, timed exams and practice tests, presentations, kids' screen-time limits and short focus sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the timer keep running if I switch apps?
Yes. It follows the real clock, so the time is right when you come back; the alert plays while the tab is open.
Can I add time while it's running?
Yes. Tap +1 min as many times as you like, the end time updates too.
Why didn't the alert vibrate on my iPhone?
Safari on iPhone doesn't support website vibration. The sound alert still works if your phone isn't on silent.
What is the longest time I can set?
You can type up to 99 hours in the hours box, plus minutes and seconds, so the timer works for anything from a few seconds to several days. The quick buttons cover 1 to 60 minutes.
Can I count down to a date like Diwali or an exam day?
This timer counts down a length of time rather than to a calendar date. You can work out the hours remaining and type them in, up to 99 hours, but for dates further away a day counter or date calculator is more practical.
How do I pause and resume the timer?
Tap the Start button while it runs and it becomes Pause, freezing the time left. Tap Resume to continue from the same point, and the end time updates to match. Reset sets it back to the time in the boxes.
How do I turn off the alarm sound?
Switch off the Sound and vibration when done option before the timer ends. You will still see the time-up message, the green ring and the pulsing time on screen when it reaches zero.
Can I use it for a 3-hour mock test?
Yes. Type 3 in the hours box with 0 minutes and seconds, then tap Start. The ring shows how much time is left at a glance, and the Ends at line tells you exactly when the test will finish.
Does Reset go back to my last time?
Yes. Reset stops the timer and sets it back to the hours, minutes and seconds in the boxes, so you can repeat the same countdown. Any minutes added with +1 min are dropped.
What time zone does the Ends at time use?
It uses your device's clock and time zone, so on a phone set to India it shows IST. The 12-hour or 24-hour style follows your device settings, for example 08:41 PM or 20:41.
Will the timer keep going if I refresh or close the page?
Yes. The timer follows the real clock and remembers when it should end. Open the page again and it carries on from where it should be. If it ran out while you were away, it shows the time it finished.
How do I stop the alarm?
Tap Stop on the orange bar that appears when time is up. The alarm repeats every couple of seconds until you stop it, or for about 45 seconds. Starting a new time or tapping Reset also stops it.
Why didn't I hear the alarm?
Check that "Alarm sound and vibration" is on and your phone isn't on silent. Phones slow down timers in background tabs to save battery, so keep this tab open, or turn on "Notify me in other apps" and allow notifications.
What does "Keep the screen on" do?
While the timer runs, it stops your phone screen from dimming and locking, so you can glance at it while cooking or working out. It turns off by itself when the timer stops. Not every browser supports it.
Can I name the timer?
Yes. Type a label like Tea, Maggi or Laundry. It shows above the time, in the browser tab, and in the alarm message, so you know which timer finished.
How do I use full screen?
Tap the square button at the top right of the timer, or press F on a keyboard. The ring and numbers fill the screen. Tap the button again or press Esc to go back.
