Find & Replace
Find every occurrence of a word or phrase and replace it, with match-case and whole-word options and a count of replacements.
About the Find & Replace
Find & Replace swaps every occurrence of a word or phrase for something else. Matches are highlighted as you type and counted, and options let you match capitals exactly, restrict matches to whole words, or use regular expressions. "Apply to my text" lets you make several replacements one after another.
What you can do with the Find & Replace
- Live highlights: Every match is highlighted and counted as you type.
- Precise matching: Match capitals exactly, whole words only, or use regular expressions.
- Several rounds: "Apply to my text" lets you do one replacement after another.
- Copy the result: Take the edited text with one tap.
Match case and whole words
With "Match case" off, "Apple", "apple" and "APPLE" are all found. "Whole words only" stops partial matches, so replacing "cat" won't turn "category" into "dogegory". Use both options together for precise edits.
Regular expressions
Switch on "Regular expression" for pattern searches: \d+ matches any number, \s+ any run of spaces, and (\w+)@(\w+) captures parts you can reuse as $1 and $2 in the replacement. If a pattern isn't valid, the tool says so instead of guessing.
Everyday uses
Fixing a repeated typo across a long document, updating a product or company name, changing the year in a template, or replacing a placeholder like [NAME] with a real name.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I undo a replacement?
Your original text stays in the top box until you tap "Apply to my text", so you can always change the search and try again.
Does it support regular expressions?
Yes. Switch on "Regular expression". With it off, symbols like . * and ( are matched as plain characters.
Can I replace text with nothing?
Yes. Leave the "Replace with" box empty to delete every match.
How do I turn a list of lines into a comma-separated list?
Switch on "Regular expression", type \n in Find and a comma followed by a space in Replace with. Every line break is replaced, so a column of names becomes one line like "Amit, Priya, Rahul", ready for an email or form.
What counts as a whole word?
With "Whole words only" on, a match must not have a letter, digit or underscore directly before or after it. So "cat" matches "cat." and "(cat)" but not "catwalk", "concat" or "cat_1".
Why did "Cat" become lowercase "dog" after replacing?
The search ignores capitals by default, but the replacement is inserted exactly as you typed it, so both "cat" and "Cat" become "dog". Switch on "Match case" and do one pass for "cat" to "dog" and another for "Cat" to "Dog".
How do I swap first and last names, like "Sharma, Rahul" to "Rahul Sharma"?
Turn on "Regular expression", find (\w+), (\w+) and replace with $2 $1. The two brackets capture the surname and first name, and $2 $1 writes them back in reverse order for every line that matches.
How do I change dates from DD/MM/YYYY to YYYY-MM-DD?
With "Regular expression" on, find (\d{2})/(\d{2})/(\d{4}) and replace with $3-$2-$1. A date like 05/10/2026 becomes 2026-10-05. Check the highlighted preview first to make sure only dates are matched.
Do I need to escape dots or question marks in my search?
Not in normal mode. With "Regular expression" off, every character is matched literally, so searching "Rs." finds only "Rs." and you can replace it with ₹. With regex on, a dot means any character, so write \. for a real dot.
How do I make several different replacements one after another?
Do the first find and replace, then tap "Apply to my text". The result becomes your new text, and you can type the next find and replace pair. Repeat for each change, and copy the final version when done.
Why does it show no matches when the word is clearly there?
Usually "Match case" or "Whole words only" is switched on and the text differs slightly, or there is an extra space in the Find box. With regex on, symbols like ( or + have special meanings, and an invalid pattern shows an error message.
