PIN Generator

Generate random numeric PIN codes of 4 to 12 digits using secure randomness, with no predictable patterns.

About the PIN Generator

The PIN Generator creates random numeric codes from 4 to 12 digits, with every digit equally likely. It can make up to 20 PINs at once, skips the easy-to-guess patterns people pick most, and shows how many PINs are possible at that length. Tap a PIN to copy it.

What you can do with the PIN Generator

Why random PINs matter

People choose PINs very predictably. One large study of millions of leaked 4-digit PINs found that around one in ten was 1234, and codes like 1111, 0000 and birth years were also extremely common. A randomly generated PIN avoids all of those patterns.

Longer PINs are much stronger

A 4-digit PIN has 10,000 possible combinations, while a 6-digit PIN has 1,000,000, a hundred times more. Use 6 digits wherever the system allows it.

Keeping a PIN safe

Don't write your PIN on your card or keep it with your phone, and shield the keypad when entering it. Avoid dates that are personally meaningful, since they can be guessed by people who know you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the most common PINs to avoid?

1234, 1111, 0000, 1212 and years such as 1990–2010. "Skip easy-to-guess PINs" removes all of these patterns automatically.

Is a 4-digit PIN secure?

It's acceptable when the system locks after a few wrong attempts, as bank cards do. A random PIN is still far safer than a chosen one.

Are generated PINs stored?

No. They're created in your browser and disappear when you leave the page.

Can I use this for my UPI or ATM PIN?

Yes. UPI PINs are 4 or 6 digits depending on your bank, and ATM PINs are usually 4. Generate a PIN of the right length, memorise it, and set it through your bank's app or ATM. Never share it, and never write it on the card or in your phone notes.

What are the chances of someone guessing a 4-digit PIN?

A random 4-digit PIN has 10,000 possibilities, so one guess has a 1 in 10,000 chance. Most ATM cards block after 3 wrong attempts, which gives a stranger about a 0.03% chance. Common choices like 1234 or a birth year are far easier to guess.

How many PINs does Skip easy-to-guess remove?

For 4 digits it rejects 318 of the 10,000 possible PINs, including repeats like 1111, runs like 1234 or 9876, pairs like 1212 and years from 1900 to 2099, leaving 9,682. The Possible PINs figure shows the full total, not the reduced one.

Does it avoid birthdays like 1508 or 0203?

Not completely. The skip option removes years from 1900 to 2099, but not day-and-month combinations such as 1508 for 15 August. If a generated PIN happens to match your birthday, anniversary or vehicle number, tap New PIN for another.

Can a PIN start with zero?

Yes. Every digit, including the first, is drawn from 0 to 9 with equal chance, so PINs like 0472 appear as often as any other. Most banks accept a leading zero, but if a system rejects it, just generate another PIN.

How do I make several PINs at once?

Set "How many PINs" to any number from 1 to 20. Tap a single PIN to copy it, or use the copy button to copy all of them at once, one per line. This is handy for setting up door locks, test accounts or several devices.

Is a 6-digit PIN much safer than a 4-digit one?

Yes, by a factor of 100. A 6-digit PIN has 10,00,000 possible combinations against 10,000 for 4 digits. Where your bank or phone allows a 6-digit PIN, choosing it makes a lucky guess far less likely.

Why does my new PIN have repeated digits like 7737?

Each digit is chosen independently, so repeats happen naturally; about half of all 4-digit PINs have at least one repeated digit. The skip option removes only all-same PINs like 7777, runs, repeated pairs and years. If you prefer no repeats, tap New PIN until you get one you like.
