Image Resizer
Resize photos and images to exact pixel dimensions or by percentage, keep proportions automatically, and download as JPG, PNG or WebP.
About the Image Resizer
The Image Resizer changes a photo's width and height by exact pixels, by percentage, or to a ready-made size like an Instagram post, a Story, Full HD, a YouTube thumbnail, a WhatsApp DP or a passport photo. You see the new size, the file size and a preview before you download, and the image never leaves your device.
What you can do with the Image Resizer
- Three ways to resize: Exact pixels, a percentage or a ready-made size.
- Popular presets: Instagram, Story, Full HD, YouTube thumbnail, WhatsApp DP and passport photo.
- Preview first: See the new size and file size before downloading.
- Stays on your device: The image is never uploaded.
Three ways to resize
"Pixels" lets you type an exact width and height, with "Keep proportions" adjusting the other side for you. "Percent" scales the whole image with a slider. "Presets" sets common sizes in one tap, for example 1080 × 1080 for a square post or 413 × 531 for a 35 × 45 mm passport photo at 300 dpi.
When the shape changes
A preset can have a different shape from your photo. "Crop to fill" trims the edges so the picture fills the whole frame, "Fit inside" keeps the whole picture and adds white borders, and "Stretch" squeezes it to fit, usually the least natural choice.
Choosing a format
JPG is best for photos and makes small files. PNG keeps sharp edges and transparent backgrounds, which suits logos and screenshots. WebP usually gives the smallest files and works in all modern browsers. Making an image bigger than the original won't add detail, it will look softer.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I resize a photo for an online form?
Choose Pixels, switch off "Keep proportions" if the shape must change, type the exact size the form asks for and download. If there's also a KB limit, run it through the Image Compressor.
How do I make a passport-size photo?
Choose Presets → Passport 35×45 mm and "Crop to fill". Check that your face is centred in the preview before downloading.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Resizing happens on your device, and the image never leaves it.
Will resizing make my photo under 50 KB or 100 KB?
Not necessarily. Resizing changes the width and height in pixels, which usually lowers the file size, but it does not aim for a KB limit. If your form has a file size limit too, resize first, then use the Image Compressor to reach the KB target.
How do I resize to an exact size like 200 x 230 pixels?
Choose Pixels, switch off Keep proportions, and type both the width and height. If your photo has a different shape, it will be squashed or stretched, so crop it to roughly the same shape first. Check your form's instructions for the exact size required.
What do Crop to fill, Fit inside and Stretch do?
These apply to presets with a different shape from your photo. Crop to fill covers the whole size and trims the edges, Fit inside shows the whole photo with white borders, and Stretch forces it to the new shape, which can distort faces.
Can I make a small photo bigger without losing quality?
Enlarging cannot add detail that was not captured, so bigger images look softer, and the tool warns you when you enlarge. Percent mode goes up to 200%, and pixel sizes up to 12,000 px are allowed, but start from the largest original you have.
Should I save as JPG, PNG or WebP?
JPG is best for photos and is accepted almost everywhere, PNG keeps sharp edges and transparency, and WebP gives smaller files where it is accepted. Same keeps the original format, while GIF and other formats are saved as PNG. Transparent areas turn white in JPG.
What size is an Instagram post, Story or YouTube thumbnail?
The presets use 1080 x 1080 for a square post, 1080 x 1350 for a portrait post, 1080 x 1920 for a Story or Reel and 1280 x 720 for a YouTube thumbnail. There is also 1920 x 1080 Full HD and a 500 x 500 WhatsApp DP.
Does resizing change the DPI of my photo?
Websites and online forms look at the pixel size, not DPI. DPI only matters for printing: printed width in inches equals pixels divided by DPI, so 600 pixels prints 2 inches wide at 300 DPI. Set the pixel size you need for print.
Why is my resized image larger in file size?
This can happen when you enlarge the image, save a photo as PNG, or resize a heavily compressed original, since the result is saved at high quality. The size line shows the change versus the original; choose JPG or WebP, or use the Image Compressor.
