Reverse Text

Flip any text backwards, character by character, for puzzles, palindromes and mirror-writing.

About the Reverse Text

Reverse Text flips text in five ways: every letter backwards, the order of words, the order of lines, the letters inside each word, or upside down for fun. Each style shows a preview of your first line, and the result is ready to copy or download.

What you can do with the Reverse Text

What people use it for

Checking palindromes by eye, creating puzzles and riddles, writing mirror-style messages for fun, flipping a list that's in the wrong order, and testing how software handles text. Leonardo da Vinci famously wrote many of his notebook pages in mirror script.

Upside-down text

"Upside down" uses look-alike characters from other alphabets, ɐ for a, ǝ for e, so the text still works when you paste it into a chat or social media bio. A few letters have no perfect upside-down match and are kept as they are.

A note on complex emoji

Simple emoji are reversed correctly. Some emoji, such as family groups or flags, are built from several symbols joined together, and reversing letters can split them into their parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I reverse the order of words instead of letters?

Yes. Choose "Word order" to keep each word readable but reverse their order.

Will upside-down text work on Instagram or WhatsApp?

Usually yes, it's made of ordinary Unicode characters, so it can be copied and pasted anywhere that supports them.

Is my text stored?

No. Everything happens in your browser.

Why does reversed Hindi or Tamil text look broken?

Indian scripts build letters from several characters, such as a consonant plus a vowel sign. Reversing by letters puts the vowel sign before its consonant, so words look broken. Word order and line order modes keep each word intact.

How do I reverse the order of a list?

Paste the list with one item per line and choose Line order. The last line becomes the first while each line stays readable. This is handy for flipping a ranking, a playlist or a list of dates.

How does the palindrome check work?

It ignores spaces, punctuation and capital letters, then checks whether the remaining letters and numbers read the same backwards. If they do and there are more than two, a note appears, so "Was it a car or a cat I saw" counts.

Can I make mirror text with this tool?

There is no separate mirror mode. Upside down reverses the text and swaps characters for look-alikes, so it reads as if the phone were turned over. Letters mode reverses the order of characters but does not flip their shapes.

Does Word order move punctuation?

No. Punctuation stays attached to its word, so "small jobs easy." becomes "easy. jobs small". Each line is reversed separately and the spaces between words are kept. Fix any full stops by hand if you need a tidy sentence.

Which characters can be turned upside down?

English letters, digits and common punctuation such as full stops, commas, quotes, question marks and exclamation marks have look-alikes. Characters without one, including accented letters and Indian scripts, are reversed in position but keep their normal shape.

How do I save the reversed text?

Use the Copy button above the Result box to copy it, or Download to save it as a plain text file named reversed.txt. You can then paste the text into a chat, document or puzzle sheet.

Will screen readers read upside-down text?

Usually not well. Upside-down text uses symbols from other alphabets, so screen readers may spell out odd names or skip them, and search engines will not match the words. Keep it for fun posts, not important information.
